Volunteer
Becoming a Peer Volunteer (PV) at Castlemaine Safe Space is a process that is supported by our Volunteer Coordinator (VC), Mark.
How does it work and what does it involve?
You emailing volunteers@castlemainesafespace.org expressing your interest or filling out the form below, then :
Receiving a follow up, introductory phone call in response
An interview with the VC and another PV for up to an hour to explore suitability for the role.
Formal training provided by Roses in the Ocean- 6 online self-paced modules, and 2 Face to Screen facilitated Workshops (each 4.5- 6.5 hours duration).
Undertaking a Police Check and Working with Children Check
Once onboarded, PVs are asked to do 1-2 shifts at Safe Space each month (a shift is 3.5 hours, open to guests for 2.5 hours). Ongoing support is provided.

Other ways to get involved or support us:
Alongside, or instead of, doing shifts at Safe Space, you can also offer your services to volunteer in a number of ways, for example;
Attending Awareness Raising events like local markets
Providing admin support to the Working Group
Other special projects undertaken within the guideline of the Strategic Plan
Anyone can:
Donate to our Community Pantry
Drop bottles and cans to the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme, and choose Castlemaine Safe Space to receive the funds. To donate use the Zone Operator app or use the Donation Partner ID at your refund point. More information here: https://cdsvic.org.au/donating
